What does the customer really want?

I workout four days a week; recently I have noticed that certain blue gloves are becoming really popular in between those who exercise. I liked how the gloves looked like and I bought one from the store that used to sell them which is located only few foot steps away of the gym.

Few weeks later the gloves became even more demanded and lots of people started approaching me and asking me where I bought them from. When my gloves were torn apart I went to buy a replacement because I got so used to them.

The shocking reply I got from the store owner was “Currently we don’t have any of these gloves and by the way they are bad for exercising because they can result in fat loss in your hand”

The man’s reply was really amazing because he stopped selling a product that people were dying to get only few meters away!!! Not only this but he didn't have information about localized fat loss which was proven to be a myth so his gloves can't result in making the hand smaller.

In order to understand your customers you must become one of them

If this store owner went to the gym one day he would have realized that these blue gloves were really comfortable and that people really like them. He would then have bought a lot of them and sold them successfully in no time.

Online Marketing is not sending unsolicited emails or finding new “Proven superb tricks that can bring you 1 million dollars in one week” but it’s the act of understanding your customer’s real needs and wants then delivering them products that satisfy these needs.

If you want to be Successful in online marketing then you must put yourself in the shoes of your customers, understand how they think, act and behave.

Go online and act as if you are one of your customers, try to visualize his situation so that you start thinking like him and see how are you going to behave, what are you going to search for and what products will you want to buy.

Most of the tweaks that I have made to my website that resulted in increased sales didn’t come from reading but from acting like my customers for few minutes every now and then.

Understanding how your visitor thinks is a crucial step to building a successful online business else you might not be selling blue gloves that people are really in need of.
