When you write an article make sure that you are not choosing the keywords that you like but the keywords that people look for. This doesn’t mean that you should change your mind and write about something else other than what you wanted to write about but it only means that you should optimize your keywords to match the popular search phrases.
For example if you were writing an article about weight loss then giving it the title “Five weight loss secrets” might not let it rank well in search engines. If instead you gave it the title “How to lose weight fast” then optimized your article to contain the keywords "weight loss" and "fast" you will easily rank higher in search engine results. You might be asking yourself how did i find out that "How to lose weight fast" is a popular search phrase?? the answer is simple just go to Google or yahoo then type how to lose weight and you will find a drop down menu that shows you all popular searches that are related to these keywords. Avoid the crowded keywords
If
your website’s main topic was weight loss then targeting the keywords
"weight loss" or "losing weight" will lead you nowhere. Tough
competition exists for such keywords and the only way to rank higher
fast is to find keywords that have less competition. For example
instead of writing an article and optimizing it for the keywords
“Weight loss” optimize it for the keywords “Effective weight loss
methods”. Both keywords are popular but your chance in of ranking well
when targeting the second keyword is much higher.
If a single user saw 10 pages of your website then you will get 10 hits and not 1 hit. If you managed to let your website get lots of hits from every single user then your traffic will surge even if your traffic didn’t increase much. Increase your link popularity
The better your link popularity is the higher will be the respect given to your website by search engines and the higher will be your ranking. Link popularity is best achieved by getting one way back links, read this article to know how to get one way back links for free.
Let users come back
If the users who visit your website come back again then your website will become popular in no time. The big reason my first website became very popular is that a big percentage of those who visited it returned back later on bringing with them new people. In order to bring users back you can let them subscribe to news letters, newsfeeds or even a forum. Just find whatever method to use to bring back 10 percent of those who visit your website and this will be enough to make it popular in no time.
